Spring has most definitely arrived! All around the vineyard nests are popping up, the vines have budded out with vigor, and we are excited to release some of our favorite vintages of wine.
Cool weather in the spring made for shorter growing seasons, and in the case of 2011, pushed harvest right into the rainy season. What we have found is that microclimates, (combined with experienced and talented winemakers) made a difference.
We source our Cabernet from the Vaca Range where air circulation and favorable drainage, elimated serious problems with mold and lack of concentration in the grapes. These two vintages produced the kind of fruit Mark Herold has mastered.

Plummy with just a bit of toasty, brown spice in the nose. This wine still tops my list for pork, or any meat grilled over fire.
