Good bright ruby-red. Dark, pungent aromas of black cherry, blueberry, crushed rock, violet, licorice and brown spices. Juicy, silky and perfumed in the mouth, with a strong acid impression lifting the cassis, violet and bitter chocolate flavors. This intense wine finished long and firmly tannic, with some sexy oak tones on the aftertaste. Brisk and built to age. S Tanzer

The 2009 Celani Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Malbec. Aged 20 months in 90% new French oak barrels, this blend was neither fined nor filtered. Immediately emanating from the glass is a vibrant core of the blackest cherries framed by super-intense aromatics of blackberries, chocolate strawberries, dried flowers, rhubarb fruit cake, black currants and suede, with hints of sandalwood, star anise, tea leaf, and black cardamom. The powerful entry is sweet and lush with ripe blackberry flavors highlighted by notes of pepper, sexy spicy oak, and licorice. The intensity of flavors continues through to a long lingering finish. The 2009 Celani Cabernet will drink fabulously over the next 15 years.
